Holy crap stripper clips

Your memory is much better than mine! I wonder what ever happened to Mr. Lever's enormous collection??

You have pretty incredible stories to tell.

I have been on the hunt for a 1946/47 FN model 1930 (Venezuelan "short rifle") for the past 10 years after stupidly selling the mint specimen I purchased from "John's Vault". I bet a few perfect specimens passed through Lever Arms.

I sincerely doubt my memory is better.

The thing is, I really liked Mr Lever and working with and for him. Looking back, when he suggested I should think about becoming a partner in the business, I may have missed a great opportunity. Maybe not?

I wouldn't have been able to go on to do the things that shaped me into what I am today and I would have had to move to the Lower Mainland.

I remember some but not most of the stuff I handled coming through Mr Lever's warehouse at the time. I remember the house and that particular room mostly because I was not only very interested but very impressed and surprised by his casualness about all of it.

i always remember old man lever sitting in that little cubicle area of the counter and being a regular back in the early 90's I do remember how casual he was about the whole aspect of his store and the pallets of ammo and racks n racks of rifles. Visiting lever arms back in the day as a 20 sumthing year old was like walking into toys r us as an 8 year old LOL

Lever was an ass. Almost as bad as John at marstar.

ya allan was a grumpy bear of a man LOL but he did many a gun nut a great service back in the day by importing all that he could. He's a man that would have stuck both middle fingers in the air at the likes of Trudeau.

I always got along well with John from marstar. He was always a straight shooter in my books.

I have both chargers and stripper clips..... they serve 2 different functions, at least for the M14 anyways. Charger is for loading the magazine with stripper clipped ammo in that case.

I knew I had a box full of "new" stripper clips and I found it in my shop last night while moving things for painting.
All of them are from Czech ammo spam cans that came 2 to a crate.
Guess I'll count them up and get them on the EE but pretty sure there's around 2 cases worth of them in the box.

Lever Arms, the good old days.......

Walking down Howe Street with a case of bright, shining Portugese 8mm for $50...... Spending hours pulling out every 6.5 Swedish Mauser to find the best one

How could a man who brought so much pleasure be described as an ass?

Because he was.

Because he was.

I wanted an AK dust cover for a paintball project (before I owned real guns) and he ran me up and down then refused to sell me one.

I found one cheaper with a rail already on it... it was a cool project it came out looking and working amazing. this was pre "kits" for the A5

post kits, I swapped to a flding stock... thse were cool, they were real AK parts converted to fit the A5 by a company... cost less then the plastic knock off garbage.

I feel much closer to the Commonwealth than to the USA. so I will call them chargers. Been there and shot that. Should have also said that the best shooters in the world are normally Brit's.

I have a few pails full of them. I should be like that one guy and sell them for $3 each, I could retire. Then again he is charging guys out the ass to ruin their Type-81 mags too.

I thought all the Chinese surplus was on stripper clips? If not, is it just a crate of loose rounds?

Tha Chinese surplus that I have seen or bought over the last 6 years has always been in spam cans that contain carefully wrapped paper packages of 20 rounds per package. Last stuff I bought on stripper clips was Czech that came nicely packed on a stripper clip wrapped in blue cardboard inside a heavy duty plastic covering. Nice stuff at what was a few years ago a bit of a premium price due to the clips and packing but it was worth it to have the clips for the other loose surplus. Needless to say haven’t seen Czech ammo available for the last few years from most vendors.

Geoman, I had a bunch of that from CT back around 2015. The Halifax CT sold the for $3/10 on a stripper and I bought the last at that store, about 300 rounds. They're long gone - 'up in smoke', but I kept the clips  LGS is selling them for $5-Each ! Haven't seen any CZ ammo around here for a couple years now. Bought some Romanian 'red seal' a couple years ago that I'm saving 'cause it's a bit better than the Chinese I'm shooting right now. Missed out on the Russian that Marstar had a while back :(
Ganderite's Ammo Test (in Stickies) from a few years ago had good info/target pics about Euro-import ammo. :)

5 bucks a stripper clip? I thought the EE was bad lol. I have given so many away to friends and new shooters, and glad to do it too.

I remember picking up all the ones people would just toss on the ground, probably got a couple buckets full of them. Seeing prices now makes me feel a lot better about my hoarding tendencies

Buck, thanks for the Ganderite info. It always seemed that everywhere I went it was Chinese surplus so I will do the best I can. At before tax prices ranging from 18-25 cents a round I have done well compared to today’s prices. Trouble is it is a consumable item😢.

Slightly off topic but regarding Lever, I was able to view a sea can of AK's fresh from China at the current location, it was really quite a sight, but it makes me wonder what happened to most of them, after all there are only about 1500 registered prohib AK's and there was a lot more than that in one shipment. Maybe they just passed their best before date, and disappeared?
