Well, remember that mysterious bar of lead I found at the store?

I dug it up again, yes, it is pure lead. Soft, pure lead. Unfortunately when I asked my boss about it he said that because of rising costs of metal the price of lead has gone to about twenty dollars a pound.

Tell me this isn't true. What the hell is going on? Why is lead so expensive? I thought people usually gave away tire weights for free.

hope ya mean two decimal points out..;)
any ways......there has been tons of threads on melting lead in th last while..im thinking of starting a get togeather to get a bunch of nutz to combine some melting pots/lead/experience/place, or what ever there is needed to get er done:dancingbanana:
if i can get a few interested in it....i,ll start a thread in the events and gathering forum..and see what happens

It must be that lead alloy like in Kelly's Heroes....scratch off the grey and see the gold-coloured lead underneath ;)
 
I called a local metal recycling company and they will sell me lead at .55 per lb.
It's not pure lead but it's not at $20/lb. For you the guys who reload shotshells that would mean $ 500.00 for a 25lb bag of lead shot.
