I really like my deer specific hand load after 4 seasons of use. I'm glad to share the recipe.
Caliber: 308 Win.
Bullet: Barnes TTSX .308 130GR
Case: PPU Brass
Primer: CCI Large Rifle
Powder: Varget
Powder Charge: 49.2GR max charge as far as I'm concerned
COAL: 2.810
Rifle: Sako 85 Black Bear
Barrel: 20 Inches medium contour
Estimated Velocity: 2950fps
Accuracy: 1MOA average
Results: Deer devastation, you won't ever recover a bullet on deer promised regardless of the shot angle. I'm curious to know what it would do to a moose one day!
Fun fact, the hornady .308 130GR SoftPoint (catalog number 3020) hits to same point of impact as the barnes TTSX and makes for a great varmint bullet without having to resight the scope! I use a shorter COAL though at 2.710 and once fired winchester brass for those.
