Holy grails of sporting rifles

I was without sufficient personal exchequer...
Sorry BUM, my first thought when I read your post was this-

To me the Holy grail of hunting rifles would be a trio of custom M98's from Ralph Martini. 300H&H, 375H&H, and 458 Lott.
Go big or go home ;)

For something a little more affordable, I love my Marlin 1895CB with 26in octagon barrel. Not ridiculously hard to find, but getting harder to find every day.

I have a 1979 Marlin 336 and am currently holding a 1917 Luger and a L.C. Smith Ideal Grade side-by-side 12 gauge. Also a first production Remington Wingmaster, and a vintage Cooey .22LR.

Everything else is new.

Sako 75 SS Laminate Varminter, SINGLE SHOT and Single set trigger in any caliber and non fluted barrel. 15 years ago I passed up buying one in 6 ppc and in 308 Win. I had already purchased a repeater in 6 ppc and didn't think I needed another. I'm such an idiot! Have been searching ever since.

I also regret passing up a beautiful Winchester 94-17 in 17 HMR. It had beautiful wood, nice tang sight and octagon barrel.

Please tell me more.
I was unaware that the Model 71 was chambered for anything but the 348.

Some say that the 71 was available to order in 33 WCF the first year of production only, but I don't buy it. A Model 71 carbine would be my "holy grail" rifle, although it would probably cost $4000 if you could even find one. Anybody ever seen one for sale in Canada?

I guess the one I let get away was a M70 Featherweight in 6.5X55!
Still waiting for the Ruger No.1RSI in 257 Bob, it's going to be about a year they think.
Prophet River is just getting last year's stuff up here!!

Why I put that gal back is beyond me.
