Holy ####ing FSB Batman!

Right now its in pieces...

I have removed the BBL from the upper receiver. Removed the FSB, filed it down, and painted it.

I'm letting the paint harden over night and will be mounting it tomorrow.

I sold my LMT BUIS and Troy MRF-CX.

I am mounting a Larue 11.0 and Troy Flip-Up Front and Rear sights...

Special thanks to agit-prop for loaning me a action vise block...

Special thanks also to ripstop who stopped by with a very well made bbl nut wrench, gave me said wrench, and gave me helpful tips (like pressing in those mother####ing pins) which made life much easier...

just about to go through the same procedure removing FSB.
i gotta say the outcome was well worth your effort, very nice build:beerchug:

I figured you can probably use the wrench more than me. I'll have to look in my toolbox to find the dimensions and drill out another one, no big deal. It was a great pleasure to help and sorry about the punch again.

Haha. Don't worry... I broke one the night before.

At least I have a witness to the fact that those pins were super frigging tight and I'm not just a whiner...

Seriously, he wasn't kidding. I think the holes on the barrel are undersized. Even pressing them in with the vise took a fair bit of effort and the pins were not tapered, not deformed, and we pressed them in the right way - chamfer first. Probably would have to bend another punch to drive them out, they're not going anywhere!

DMeNTED: If you ever want to take them out again, PM me and we will fix you up properly - one way or the other. I'll bring the punches. :D

I just cut mine down with a benchgrinder, hacksaw and several files while it was still attached. If you go slowly and tape off what shouldn't come off, it will work. I didn't want to mess with the taper pins for the same reasons you did.
YMMV,
Hoddie.
