Went into a store today and they had primers for sale for 9 dollars a hundred,Now i haven't bought primers in over a year but i never paid over 46 per thousand.I heard prices might rise but that seems excessive.

jesus... i walk out when i see them for $45 or more unless i really need them (federal for the softer primers)

what store? I have paid as high as 5.50 for 100 because I needed them. usually they are between 4.50-5.00 for 100. I usually never buy more than 300 at a time any way.

In your pm i don't want to trash him in public,he's just a small timer trying to make a living,Hopefully he realizes the error of his ways

Sometimes small gun shop owners do not have the bulk buying power that larger operations have , and this is often reflected in the end price to the consumer . In short , it is tough for the small local gun shop owner to compete with the big guys in pricing due to volume buying by the larger gun stores....

in some cases yes in others no. I have gone into some small shops where the prices are on par with or lower than some of the bigger stores. I have also gone into other small shops and saw pricing at least double what these other small shops and bigger shops were charging. it all depends on how much profit the owners want to make per item.

I can understand why some small shops have to charge more. I use to own a small shop, not in firearm's. The is big overhead. And like other have said, no volume discount. I am sure this small shop would like to sell them to you cheaper, but that may mean his family ma suffer. I would bet he would give you a much better price if people would help him in his volume. It work both ways.

Bass Pro in Vaughan was selling primers @ $8 per hundred a couple of years ago, I don't know if they smartened up or not cause they are the store of absolute last resort for me.

Wow
I paid $44.95/1,000 for 210m Federal Gold Medal Match and I thought that was expensive.
I usually pay $26.00/1,000 for either CCi or S&B SPP when I buy a case of 5,000. (I watch for specials)

FYI, Canada Ammo has the Dominion primers in stock. I got 4000 small rifle and 1000 small pistol for $147, though as part of a group buy to get that free shipping goodness. That works out to about $29.40 for 1000, as compared to something like $45 for the Winchester standard last I checked.
