Home Bluing kits??? (also grip size for Llama Comanche 3)

Hello all I recently purchased a Llama Comanche 3 from a friend of mine. I got a great deal on it. The only thing is I would like to look “new” again. It has some minor rust on it and could use some bluing. I was just wondering if anybody out there has any experience with any home bluing kits. I’ve seen an ad for “blue wonder” but I don’t know how it really works... any suggestions?

Also I would like to put new grips on it but I don’t know what size it is... Llama went out of business a few years back and I can’t find out any info on it.... The gun is a Llama Comanche 3 .357 mag, 6 inch barrel I believe... still waiting for the ATT.

From what I understand about those "common" blue is that most of them sucks and does not do what I needed them to do. The reasons for my dislike of most cold blue are most should stink, does not protect the metal, most are for touch up only, and etc etc.....

About that rust of yours, to my knowledge you will have to remove it 1st with rust remover or abrasion (sand blasting or whatever). Which of 2 I think you can do more research online anyway. Also about the rust remover thingy they sell at cantire will probably give the gun pitting if it's badly rusted. (which I probably won't use it because it's just not that great to me)

The best thing is to do in my point of view is either :

1 )learn how to do rust bluing yourself and remove the pitting if it's bad. (easy and almost no tool to do)

2 )get it to a gunsmith which will polish and remove the rust on the gun and do a very good job on it. (Hot Clustic Blue for the gun probably, and for 100 bucks?)

3 )Just damn remove the rust and use the cold blue!

about the grip if you can't find it on the interweb, there are some people here that probably can point you the right way.

Oh yeah about the blue wonder, I almost brought the things as it claimed to be. After being more educated on finishes on metal, I highly doubt something like that could have the effects it claimed. Blue Wonder is just probably one of those express rust blue to me, then again I have never used it.

Try finest steel wool #00000 and gun oil and rub the rust off, it should leave the bluing and remove the rust . Then you can look at the gun to see if it needs rebluing and how deep any pits are. Sometimes using this method the gun comes out looking nice but used.
