Hey everyone,

I want to get into the AR world and I'm interested in doing a home build. I would like to have something in 22lr that has all the functions of a standard AR. I have thought about getting the M&p 15-22 or the Colt M4 but I want something that can except mil-spec uppers so I can shoot something bigger down the road. Looking for something that's going to be reliable and hopefully keep the initial cost around $1000.

Just looking for some advice and I'm curious to see what others have done with their own home builds.

Thanks!

I was going to say 2"-3" at 25 yards. The CMMG conversion is very reliable and seems to cycle very quickly. A LOT of fun if you enjoy rapid fire plinking (I know I do). A dedicated .22 upper would be better if you want more accuracy. I just happen to have one on the EE :) However there are also new Tac Sol, CMMG and Chiappa uppers available from CGN vendors. A mil spec lower and dedicated .22lr upper can be done for $1000.

Thanks guys! I'll have to take a look at the CMMG conversion, sounds like a good option. Tom E, what kind of upper do you have? I haven't got approved for the EE yet.
