Just wondering if anyone would comment on a shotgun for home defense. I pretty sure if someone broke into your home and you had to defend your family you would be charged but I just wondering for the safety of your family if any gun nutz members has a gun safe in their bedroom.

Yup, but it's not a shotgun that's in it. My home defense gun is a Colt 1911 .45 ACP. I keep it in an actual safe (as opposed to a gun cabinet) with an electronic lock that can be opened in seconds without looking for or fumbling with keys. The mag and ammo are stored separately, of course.
I will not, shall not and cannot confirm and/or/nor deny that a 20ga pump, properly stored within a safe, with seperate ammo is or is not within my approval and/or disapproval as the best idea.

911, because the police are there to protect you. If they can't make it in time they will be sure to bring the people that harmed you and your family to justice.
Ammo and gun can be stored together in a safe according to the law.
From the RCMP website:
Storing Firearms Safely
Unload and lock your firearms!
Store the ammunition separately or lock it up. It can be stored in the same locked container as the firearms.
Of course understand both can be stored in a gun safe as long as both are locked up. May look for a small 2 gun safe. Would like to ensure both legal. Right now I have both stored in two separate gun safes but the point above is a great comment has I am alittle particular about safety but this is great point.

I like a shotgun for self defense. It has a lot going for it, one its easy to hit a target just by pointing, like a natural extension of your arm. The different loads that a shotgun can suit make it a very good weapon for almost any circumstance. as well, its big enough to be used as a club, or to butt stroke an attacker in the head, then show him/her the business end! As well, have you ever heard of somebody getting shotgun whipped! But a jury sure know what being pistol whipped is
There was an article recently where a home invader tossed the homeowner in the closet, the same closet where he kept his guns! Well he came out shooting and stayed alive so I like the idea of keeping iron in the closet! If someone ever tosses me in there, well they better think twice before they do that

I keep 911 on speed dial. That knocks 5 seconds off their 15 minute trip. I feel safe.
