Home Defense W/ Restricted

hope?

Mine too. I'm not particularly worried. I've lived in the same city all my life, and I've never found myself in grave danger... so that's the good news I suppose.
I'm all for CCW, but conceal carrying here would be like preparing for a meteor strike to the face. It'd still be nice to have that right though.
Home invasions aren't much of a problem either.

My Father always tought me to never spit in the air, it might fall back in my face!

If it came to it, my wife would respect me and sit by me in court for defending my family from a home invasion... my marriage would be over if I cowered out instead. I love my wife and kids, and I love my guns.

That being said... I hope I never have to be in such a situation.

I recently got my restricted PAL. During my safety course, that question was brought up. Our instructor told us that if you're going to use a gun, the intruder must be armed with a weapon. Considering the charge against a g20 protester who blew bubbles at a cop, I guess bubbles can be defined as a weapon. Seriously, check this out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGMTm3QRwEc

Anywho, we were told that if you do have to discharge your firearm to do 3 things.
1. Kill the intruder. Reasoning is, if he lives, he'll sue you and win.
2. You must try to save him
3. You must call 911

He said that this did happen and the home owner was acquitted. I'm sure it took a while for the courts to pass that judgement.

Again, not sure if this is true, so don't quote me on that.

In court days later:
Judge: Ok Mr.Sharp you were are being charged for murder, what do you plead?

Me: Not guilty your honor! The guy had bubbles! If one of those got in my eye it would sting for ATLEAST ten seconds!!! So I emptied the magazine into center-mass.

Judge: My verdict.... Not guilty, that's some scary s**t! I believe you did what you had to do and did not do more then what you had to do. CASE DISMISSED!

Id rather be in jail watching my kids grow up than be a free man who has to live everyday knowing I didn't save my childs life when I had the means to do so!

I'm not suggesting that you don't (or do). All i'm saying is that rather then spout slogans or takinging computer positions you spend a couple days talking to a knowledgeable lawyer, figure out when it would and wouldn't be worth it to use lethal options and use that to control your actions/responses rather then emotion.

Someone previously said that they consider anyone in their house as a life threatening event. Fine, but the court won't see it that way at all, so why dig a hole if racking the slide when you know the kids are safe might send him running? Warning shots? probably not a good idea, but a shouted warning probably would be (situational I know) IT's not about avoiding fines/legal fees but it is about not incurring charges you don't have to.

Do i like it, no. I think that if someone breaks into my house, they should expect rather severe repercusions delivered in a ballistic manner. But I don't get to choose, and i'm not going to jail based on preference.

If I remember right a loaded firearm defending your home is in use. A pistol would be extra fun for the 4000 charges they throw at you, but if we stick together with money and letters we can have the country we want.Personally I think I'm too little for prison but I'd rather that than let my family down when they needed me most....besides they say it only hurts the first time
