Hello,
I just put together my first .45 -1911. I got a new Norinco frame and a bunch of mixed and matched parts, some from here thanks to Sparky and Nor1. Its built and looks ready to shoot, I'm just wondering if there are any safety checks I should do like head space, barrel play or anything to consider before shooting a pieced together 1911 ? or can I just load it up and let it rip? Hopefully this weekend I will have a chance to try it out. Something tells me I should look into this before I should load the first round.
thanks.

I'll let a 1911 'smith answer your questions....;)

But post a pic of your project....

When you finally decide to fire , start with only one round ,if all goes well repeat. Then put two rounds in mag and fire, if all goes well repeat. If you start with a full mag and the disconnector isn't working you will have to deal with seven or eight extra shots. Once you are happy everything is working right load up your mags and see how it can shoot. But I would field strip after about 20 rounds and take a close look at the lugs on the barrel to see how they are wearing. Just some thoughts.
