Yes, but I stand the cases base down in a 12"x12" steel pan with water half-way up them, 1" deep, heat the necks until red and knock them over in the water with a screw-driver.
I saw plans for one which rotated the necks through one torch, and a lever knocked them off the plate into the water. I might make one of that type.
With no water to cool the bottom half of the case, how do you know you are not softening the heads?
Sounds pretty dangerous to me.

What would happen if you dipped the brass neck into some molten lead and then dropped the case into water?
