At my range I have seen a few times spotting scopes knocked over off the bench while on those flimsy little stands. Saw an old-timer last year with a home made clamp system he made to clamp the scope to the bench. Has anyone got a pic of their design? I diid not get the chance to have a good look at this man's invention, but it looked pretty decent. I'd like to build something equally as functional. Thanks :)

How about something like this?

I made one from a industrial Bessey Clamp . Total overkill of course. You can get a import knock off Bessy much cheaper at any industrial / welding supply store

You will have to fab out bracket to mount the tripod head

I like the Bessey since I can clamp it to any table up to a ft thick !

Here is link to the Bessey I use the 12" because it puts the scope at the right height off the bench for me

A off the shelf alternative is to use a Manfrotto 349 Clamp

You will have to choose a Manfrotto center column ( unless you already have a Manfrotto tripod )

Problem is this clamp only opens up to 2" which may or may not be enough for you
