Who says you can't teach an old dog a new trick??? After 45 years of reloading I've just found a new home recipe case lube that really works. Thanks to Accurate Shooter Bulletin I tried the suggested lanolin and 99% alcohol mix with excellent results.

After reading the article on Accurate shooter I went to the 6.5 guys site and decided to give it a try and I found I can put the imperial wax away for .308 case sizing now:

I mixed it 1 to 10, lanolin to alcohol as suggested and gave the .308 casings a spray, waited for the alcohol to flash off and began sizing. A lot less effort than trying to get the correct amount of wax on and as suggested in the article application is consistent enough to the point where shoulder bumping is less impacted than by wax.

I found the 4 oz. container of Lanolin at Aviva here in Canada for $11.95. In fact there is an Aviva store here in Winnipeg that had it in stock:

and 95% isopropyl alcohol from Shoppers Drug Mart.

I mixed 1 oz to 10 oz of alcohol and have done a few hundred with a very small amount of the solution used.

Give it a try if you have not already!!!!

that's basically dillion's lube from my understanding.

i use 99% isopropyl alchol mixed with lee's case lube 15:1 or more, the only problem with it is you have to shake it before use every time.

Great stuff thanks for passing the info on.

Once sizing is complete how do you remove the sizing lube from the casings?

For years I used lighter fluid for the RCBS petroleum based lubes and then just a paper towel for the Lee white past (still use today). This looks like a really good quick system.

I have also had good results from the Dillon or home mixed lanolin/alcohol spray. I just throw the sized brass in the tumbler for about 15 minutes to remove any lube.

They have been out at quite a few locations but Safeway Pharmacy on Pembina south of Bishop Grandin had some when I called and I got some at the Polo Park Shoppers Drug mart. Check before you go though a friend says the snowmobilers use it for something related to water displacement and that is why a lot of them are out right now.

I tried lanoline and ended up using gasoline to remove the lube.
I picked up some hair conditioner at Walmart that has lanoline as it's main ingredient.
12 oz/340g. Think I paid $6.00 for it.It's called Blue Magic and is in the ethnic section. Bar code is 75610 15790
I sized about 1000,once fired 303 brass I had and it was slick!

I tumble in corn cob media for half an hour after sizing. We can buy corn cob media here in fifty pound bags for 15.00 and a friend dropped off 150 lbs of crushed walnut last summer so media is not a problem. All residue is removed including any which may have been sprayed inside the neck which is critical for my long range competition loads. At the instant of ignition I do not want any lubricant between the casing and the chamber wall as well.

There are other "homemade" lubes that work as well. I've always used a soft pad saturated in lube and rolled the cases on the pad (RCBS). RCBS lube , CH lube etc all worked but a 2 oz container is close to $ 5. STP oil treatment works as well or better and one container is almost a lifetime supply of lube.
