Home Mix Case Lube

that's basically dillion's lube from my understanding.

i use 99% isopropyl alchol mixed with lee's case lube 15:1 or more, the only problem with it is you have to shake it before use every time.

I mix it at 1:12.
I also warm up the liquid lanolin before mixing with the 99% iso.
Doing so prevents the lanolin/alcohol mix from separating.
I've had bottles of this mix sit for months without separating.

Bought a can today - will be spraying the rust on my truck with what remains. Greasy and will stop powder in its tracks through a funnel - beware!

If you use the amount I use (probably a pea sized blob on 50 rounds) distribute it well over the brass, and wipe off the outside of the cartridges after sizing, I think that problem will cease.

I checked it out and found $12.00 a can a little much so went the alcohol and lanolin route myself.. it probably is great stuff but will use my own concoction

Do you clean it off after? I've never felt the need it's not thick at all

It's not the build up that's the problem with leaving lube on the case's, it is the fact that if the slippery substance is left on the case, it (the case) doesn't do the job it is supposed to do, that being firmly gripping the side of the chamber, reducing case back pressure on the bolt & locking lugs & containing the pressure where it's supposed to be.

I think every loading manual I've ever read has the warning someplace in it that still-lubed cases can cause dangerous bolt pressures, dangerous to the gun and shooter.

You're talking rifle carts only ?

Anything with lube on them. I don't lube my pistol cases as I only use carbide dies for them but some people still use plain steel dies that require lube. They all require cleaning
if lubed.

An added reason to clean lube off is to retard grit from sticking to the cartridge and taking the chance on scoring a chamber.

I use Hornady One Shot on pistol cases to reduce the sizing effort. It leaves very little residue after sizing, so I do not bother to clean the loaded rounds. It doesn't work very well with rifle cases, so that is where I use the lanolin/alcohol spray.

I tried to remove lanoline with my SS media. Don't do it,it'll just look like crap.
I wiped off the brass then left them in a bucket of gasoline overnight.
