Hey again guys. I have a few buddies in the US who've made custom 1911s from a variety of bought parts, but how would that work in Canada? Could I buy each part and assemble my own pistol and register it here, or is there some law against it? Thanks for any help in advance.

You'd have to register the frame, if it has no S/N - you'd have to get one put on the frame; after you do that you are good to build the gun.

You acquire a registered frame & build from there assembling your own parts. Numerous CGN'er have done it. No big deal.

NAA.

Marstar has listed brand new Norinco frames for $100. You might be able to buy all the rest of the parts for less than buying a gun, if you shop around. You will learn something about the gun, putting it together from miscellaneous bits. It might even work as well as a commercial gun.

I seen this thread and lit up, had hopes for a home-milled 1911 frame... like the one "Dumpster" did at the Cnczone.com site

Frankly - I'd love to find someone with a bit of Talent and a CNC mill to pump out a 1911 frame to my spec! I have some nice Solidworks models of the 1911 frame both with rail and without that would be pretty sweet (Any offers?)

I'd imagine that without the frame rails cut and a few holes missing this would be a nice 80% for the Canadian market (hint hint!) :ninja:

hmm maybe I should reach out in the recycle bin for some plastic and microwave myself a Glock....:D

but building a 1911 is something I wouln't mind doing myself one day...it'd be a 10mm though ;)

I plan on building three: .45, 10mm, and .357 SIG. :p I already have names for them and everything.
