Well...got tired of waiting, and didn't end up going the 'export from the US' route. I was looking on the EE for quite some time, but 930s don't seem to come up in a longer length barrel, which is what I was looking for.

Started with a 930 from Cabela's $479, added a few items from Cactus Tactical, probably around $160 or so, and still waiting/deciding on the sights. Also spent $125 at TacOrd for barrel cutting and threading.

I'm not hung up on the ghost ring setup, the pistol grip or the 18.5" barrel, which seem to be the only differences. Anyways, still gotta get out to the range and put it through its paces.

Cheers

i wanted to do the same to my 930 security/field that i just purchased on christmas eve but was told that a mag extension would make it restricted because its a centerfire semi auto. is this true? had two gun stores say restricted and two say its fine, even called the CFO and he couldnt answer my question?!?! i only have my regular pal. thanks

An unplugged mag extension is a prohibited device...the firearm doesn't become restricted.

Go back to the gun stores and tell them to learn the rules before spewing opinions. Maximum magazine capacity for semi-auto centerfire rifles and shotguns is 5 rounds of the ammunition the gun is chambered for. Having a greater capacity than 5 makes the magazine a prohibited device and has no bearing on the firearms classification. A longer tube can be used so long as it is permanently altered to allow only 5 rds (same as a pinned box mag) It amazes me how much BS you hear from gunstores, possibly the worst place in the world to get advice

yep, as its a semi auto, max mag/tube cap is pinned at 5 rds. So what you were saying is that if you were in the US, it would be able to hold 10+2 if unpinned at full capacity, correct?;)

Kind of...except I permanently altered the tube so it can't hold more than 5 rounds ;)

I like the ribbed barrel set up. I don't care for the ghost ring sight. I find a standard bead or a high" vis" bead quicker on target than iron sights. How long is that barrel?

Agreed.

I covered the mag issue in another thread right from the CFO tech's mouth. Mag body alterations are more easily defensible and acceptable. The harder it is to reverse, the safer you will be.

Aside from all this, I think the 930 looks pretty nice with the sight rib, nice score!.

so if i ordered a +2 ext for my 930, if its not on my shotgun is it still a prohibited item? Or is it only a prohib item when put on my gun without it being altered? I'm wondering because i want to order one, but until i get around to altering it am i in possession of a prohibited item?

if it were prohibited all by itself, you likely wouldn't be able to buy one

Where did you find a security/field combo ? I have been looking for one. PM me if you can.
