Any ideas on how to make a clay thrower instead of buying one? I have bought one, used it and it and found is a piece of junk. I don't want to spend a couple of hun on one cause I won' use it very often. Any thoughts?

I have the cheapie 10 buck hand tosser that you can get at Canadian Tire. Been using it for 7 years now. Still throws like the day I got it, maybe a bit better. Works perfect.

The cheapest throwers are junk, at least every one I ever used was. The trius onestep I got a few years ago will fling 'em at regulation speed, and cost less than $200. Hand throwers can be fun, but it's hard to throw your own targets.

Not that hard. Just not as easy/fun.

I saw some local welding shop copies of Lincoln and Fairey manual traps.

I wondered if one shot the clay targets they attempted to launch or the steel parts that came flying off the launcher.

I have had the same cheap one for years. The secret is to bolt it down to an old truck rim, the spikes in the ground are crap. When mounted to an old truck rim, they dont move, and all of the energy goes into launching the clay, mine has worked awesome since the day I bought it, I think I paid 40 dollars at CT.

AS mentioned the bright orange hand throwers from CT are great.

I bought one of these and regretted it.

Thing was awful. It kept coming out of the ground every time, even anchored it didn't do well at all.

I was thinking of getting one of these, but couldn't justify the cost considering i only shoot a few times a year

Yes those do suck, even when bolted down. I was looking at a few hand throwers the other day. Anyone know of one that works well (brand name)? There was one with a handle extension that looks kinda like a golf club when assembled.

does anybody uses the (new) hand-thrower that launches 2 clays at once?
I've seen one of those at Army&Navy.
Not sure which one your referring too, but I do have one of these

which is essentially two single hand throwers on a plastic base, it works " ok " and its adjustable... i just found most of the time the targets were so close together, one shot would hit both.

You can just get two individual throwers, hold them with both hands and swing 'em like a baseball bat. Its a little tricky at first but works ok.

I got a clay hawk 3/4-#### for Christmas, as long as the clays are in good shape and the box hasn't been dropped or abused it works flawlessly, a bit to consistant though, so to make it more interesting we use that in combination with a hand held thrower to throw 2 at once.

x10 on the Trius Onestep. I've owned two cheaper 'stick in ground using angle iron' jobbies, and they BLOW. Waaay too hard to #### for weaker/smaller people, and you always need to put your gun down. And every two throws, it works out of the rock hard soil. Terrible.

The One Step allows me to shoot alone if needed (granted, straight away fliers, but still fun!) and you can quickly adjust direction and angle. It's WELL worth the price over the cheap trius ones.

I've always wanted to try one of those 'Aerial Assault' cheap electric throwers with voice command or foot lever... now THAT would be cool!
