homemade/ghetto shotguns..wtf?

You know, I've read P A Luty's and Bill Holmes' books just out of general interest, but I've never looked into the legal side of things here in Canada.

Does anyone know which legislation (if any) covers this? I know a little about the regulations on businesses, but what about the "hold my beer" home experimenter?

well most of pa lutys guns are full auto so prohibited and bill holmes has some nnice ones that if done right cold be made canada legal but your going to have to be dam sure that it cant fire full auto

the books are well just books nothing illegal about them

you have to send your new home mades(ie something that has not been aprooved yet) into the rcmp for testing and be prepared to have them classified as prohibited and have the receiver handed back to you in pieces then you have to go with another route and a new receiver

I know the books are legal, I was more concerned with the actual building of firearms :p. If books containing questionably legal information ever became illegal, I'd have to fake my own death to avoid prosecution! (incidentally, I have a couple books on how to do that...)

Do you have any references on that? Not doubting you, that sounds plausible, I'd just like to find out more.

Alternately, what about reproducing an already classified firearm like machining AR receivers, or gun parts like barrels?

I've gotten all curious now, I forsee more searching in my future...

as long as your making a semi auto ar and send in photos i think your in the clear

barrels are free to make there not regulated only part that counts in the receiver (of corse if you make a barrel shorter then legal length and put it on a gun then it becomes prohibited)

Almost reminds me of something my Vietnam vet Uncle told me... take a shotty shell, tape it to a door, on the precise opposite side, where a wall is, attach a nail/screw. Get chased by (in his words) "Lil' Ol' Charlie" through the house/room, close the door partially. Chances are he'll slam the door wide open and step through at the same time. Nail hits shotgun's primer. POW.
Would this even work? He had a few "Statue of Liberty American Brown Waters, Standard Issue" (aka Budwieser)

So which part of the stapler is registered?

Let me guess, some sort of stiff wrapping around the shell's body? I bet Unc didn't mention that... so I wouldn't try it :p

No wrapping...just install your shell in about 5' high. Not lethal, but your enemy will sure be blind and almost deaf.
I wouldn't dare to chase you or your uncle trough some doors after reading that :D

a company in the states made a slam fire shotgun which was basically two pieces of pipe with a stock mounted on the rear. i have seen these for sale in the states . a crude gun but a gun never the less . they did not sell many and gave up the venture .i believe they were called a Richardson shotgun .they were patterned after Philippine homemade guns .i believe that alligator hunters use a variation of these guns were they put the muzzle against the animal with a slamming motion causing it to fire .

I may be wrong here, but don't shark bangers work that way?

An automatic center punch would probably give the action you need for a 'bang stick' dealie. Just don't get one of the cheap ass ones, as they don't work reliably.

Circa WWII, an anti personnel mine was devised by British engineers that used a 'double action' firing pin very much like an automatic center punch. The payload was simply a .303 ball round firing up through a short barrel. I do not know if they were used in combat.
