I just recently picked up a camo Mossberg 535 2 barrel combo.Last weekend was the 1st chance I had to do any amount of shooting out of it and found it very light in the stock and recoil was more than I expected.I was planning on putting a tube filled with lead shot into the stock and than found an old bow stabilizer I had kicking around.I cut the end off and pryed the cap off and emptied out the oil, springs and weight.I then cut the tube to the length I needed it,cut the springs in half and reinserted spring, weight, spring and filled it back up with oil and pounded the cap back in and soldered so it wouldnt leak.I then cut some heavy foam and sliced a hole in the center to insert the stabilizer in and shoved it in the stock and packed in as much foam as I could to keep it tight.I dont have any way of testing the recoil other than my shoulder but it took at least a 3rd of the kick out of her,and seems balanced a lot better.I dont know if its the added weight.the spring weight, oil mechanisen or both but it seems to work.
