Homemade Winter Camo....

Here is what I use.... Army surplus heavy Nylon and waterproof... $39.99....have been thinking about painting them up... I wonder what type of paint would stick to the material?

I saw a suit like that last week end at a surplus place for $40 or $50 forget which, was made of linen or something. I would guess it would be much better since it would breath better. The ones I saw were pretty big so it would fit over your hunting jacket easily, but the pants were wayyy to big for me which is why I did not buy it. That's the one thing I found with the tyvek suit, was it was a bit constricting for me, and I believe the suit I have is a ### size. The ###X size i can get my hands on are blue unfortunately.

The one I have is not linen... it's very thick Nylon.... like a thick an course "K-way" material..... The Tyvek suits work well too but I always ended up ripping mine as I often walk a long ways through bush between stands....

KDX, those links should be mandatory reading for coyote and deer hunters. Good find, thanks very much.

You're welcome. I used to get the magazine all the time and remembered the articles so I just did a search for the stories and found the references to the dates on another forum, so I guess I can't really take all the credit. This is a pic of my camo and how I got it from a military surplus store. Works for me.

Yep... same as mine.... works great.... I am interested in putting a paint job to mine like Cyanide did though.....

I go full white, pretty sure they are painters coveralls that are HUGE. I was thinking of breaking them up with spray paint aswell..

I picked up a set of insulated Realtree APS Snow Camo bibs and jacket at ####'s Sporting Goods. On sale, $79 for the set....:D

Well phuck.......by the time I walked 1.6KM uphill in knee deep snow into the stand I couldn't be bothered to remove my boots and put the damn thing on so I just found a nice spot under a tree to sit in my AP camo Jacket and grassy camo pants......LOL

Never called in any Yotes either...

Maybe next time I get out I won't have to walk so long and hard to get to where I want to go.

Sounds like Santa should have gotten you a pair of snowshoes.

I use winter open country camo jacket and white pants, balaclava and gloves. This seems to work well for out in the open or moving around the tree line areas. Cabelas sells white or white camo type concealment shells that you put over your regular stuff for use in winter. Its cheap to. Or there are all sorts of real winterized camo stuff for sale.

WSS had some plain white jackets and pants but all they had left were small, XXL and ###L

Might wait til we go to Seattle in April and hit the Cabelas there. Prices probably better as well.

I have 5 or 6 sets of the painters coveralls so if this one rips I have few backups.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that there are some interesting "younger peoples" clothing that is designed for snow boarding, that has a pass-able snow camo look to it. Those snow boarding coats are really wind proof, and can usually be had with matching pants too.
