Honesty on CGN EE

If a seller of a milsurp knows the firearm they are selling has reproduction components should they tell prospective buyers this information or leave it up to the buyer to ask?

Seems dishonest to me to not include that information in a sale of a collectible. What do you think?
 
Absolutely full disclosure.

i'd PM the seller on the chance he doesn't know it's a repro and ask to fix the EE post. Then, if no fix is made, report to mods as fraudulent.
 
Full disclosure is definitely on the seller:

11. Descriptions of all items must be factual. Items that have been altered from original factory condition or/and modified by any party other than the original factory must be disclosed. All pictures posted must be the original pictures of the items owned by the sellers.

Stupid thing is, if he gives him negative feedback, the seller will probably just respond in kind. I see it all the time. Isn't it against the EE rules though? I thought the seller could only give neutral feedback in response to negative. Just something that's not very enforced I guess?

The system allows retaliatory feedback, but the admins can and will remove it. Seller can get an infraction for abuse of the feedback system too.

Thinking about it I can’t excuse a seller knowing there’s reproduction parts or accessories and not mentioning it regardless of how it came up. Directly and knowingly representing reproductions as legit originals is obviously worse but I’d still be pretty chapped.
 
A seller with integrity is going to accurately describe an item - including the warts.
Some sellers seem to think that posting photos makes it unnecessary to mention defects. Sometimes photos are carefully staged. Recently, on first inspection of photos, I almost missed the tip of an Ishy screw that wasn't mentioned - nor was there a left side photo which would have revealed the screw head. Accident?

I haven't had much luck on the EE the past few years due to seller dishonesty. That includes a couple dealers and guys with 400+ trader ratings. Multiple rifles advertised as having excellent bores showing up very dirty and once cleaned, badly pitted. The last one was from a dealer whom I pm'd to explain why I was not going to leave feedback and why I will never purchase from him again. Next time it will be negative feedback. Maybe I've just been unlucky but it seems everyone is lying to make a sale these days.

Um no, screw around with a sale and be dishonest you get instant negative feedback. You said you will never purchase from him again, so basically, by not giving bad feedback you are putting fellow CGN'ers at a disservice...

I do my best to provide complete transparency in all of my business transactions (EE included/personal business.)
I am well aware that not everyone participates with the same constitution; capitalism can have a tendency to instill the, so called "scarcity complex." Still, it's the best system we have to work with, and until utopia rains supreme, bear in mind, some are still under the false perception that taking advantage of others will lead to prosperity.
 
Honesty is the best policy. It is up to the seller to provide full disclosure. Failure to do so is means for negative feedback imo.
 
Also, I strongly recommend msging previous correspondents (even those who have left positive feedback) when dealing with people who are pandering to your emotions to get a sale. I've had interactions with people claiming to have have been robbed and just need some quick money or some other story, who in hind sight, were selling inferior products, likely imported at drastically reduced cost. "Feeling" taken advantage of is not enough reason for me to leave negative feedback, not even based on a 90% assumption.
 
Personally I find more honesty and transparency on the EE than I do with many commercial sellers. If a seller won't quickly and cordially answer your questions just move on to someone else who will. Given that sellers may know very little about the item they are posting, I think a good portion of responsibility lies with the buyer- ask good questions and don't be fixated totally on price.
