Honey Burn for Bears

Mix honey and water 50/50 in a tin can and boil it. (A candle makes enough heat.)
Feel free to improvise the set up. :p
When the honey "burns" it gives out a thick white smoke and sweet smell.

i us two tin cans .one large coffee can and one smaller soup can that will fit inside of the coffee can .i set it on close hangers that i have pushed thru the coffee can in an x shape to make a seat for the soup can about two or three inches from the bottom put a candel under the soup can and fill it half full or a littel better with honey or i like maple syurp .it pays to try it in your yard first to see how close you want you flame and how long it will last .remember to have a clean area to do this as it getts very very hot i like a large flat rock DUTCH

Find a can that will hold a can of sturno fairly snug.
Put the sturno can inside this can and about 1/2” above the top of the sturno can cut three notches in the outside can to create tabs.

Cut the notches like this:

|______|

Bend the notches up so that another can that fits inside will sit on the bent up tabs just above the sturno and the opening will provide air for the flame.
Punch holes into the top of the outside can and put a wire handle on it to hang it up with.

Fill the inside top can ¾ full with honey.
Light the sturno and put it in the outside can, bend the tabs up and put the can of honey inside and hang it up on a branch.
Let it burn.

Don't "cook" it for too long. I use a colman burner that screws onto the mini propane bottles. Use a large can for the honey / water (the more water, the longer the burn) mixture cause it'll bubble over and make a big mess. Try warming bacon fat too. Sometimes when a big boar is reluctant to coming into the bait during shooting hours a different smell will bring him in. Curiousity kills the cat...errrr...ummm bear :).
