I believe that Squinty, who hangs out on this forum, lives in Fort McMurray. Lets hope that he and family as well as his Italian Garands pull through the current fire disaster unscathed. Ditto to other CGN members who may be affected.

I think catenthehatt does as well

Cat n the Hat is doing very well, :) Check out the AO forum for some reports on the situation. According to the St, John CBC, the Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are fleeing for their lives. Apparently everyone else is staying put.

Grizz

I have to handed to the officials, they evacuated 80,000 people in 1 day. That's pretty dam good. ####ty situation. I hope everyone is able to bounce back and rebuild from this.

I think we might have to start building large firebreaks around all these towns and cities up north.

Thank you.

I am safe and the last time there were as many M1 rifles in the same place at the same time, the 101st Airborne Division dropped into France.

I'm at Albian Sands right now, one of the main evac point for everyone that was displaced to the oil sands camps. I'm up here working, I dont live in Fort Mac.

I feel so badly for the people. The camp is stuffed with evacuees, dogs, children. Everyone else came up here with thier most important possessions. There are flights leaving just about every hour, 737's, Dash 8's, everything. The C130 Hercules was here at around 6pm, made me feel good. Westjet, Air Canada, Canadian North, Flair Air, all of them tirelessly bringing these people to Edmonton or Calgary.

I gave my room up to a young family with 2 children. They needed it more than I do, I can sleep in the hall.

They are building fire breaks and walls/berms around the site as a precautionary measure.

what can I say? It's Alberta. We always help out the ones that need it. I'm glad my family is 600km away, no threat to them, and the fire is still Approx 80km away from where we are here.

Keep everyone in your thoughts.

That put a smile on my face. :)

That put a bigger smile on my face. Well done, Sir.
