So I have posted on here before with issues of my tokarev jamming. Fixed that, no more jams that lock up the pistol. Now to deal with the final issue!

So after some digging around on the internet, I came across a painfully simple solution. The slide lock retaining clip could be loose, causing the slide lock to move while firing and lock the slide back. Now this seemed too simple to be true. But I looked at my retaining clip, and it felt like it could be tighter. So I squeezed the clip with some needle nose pliers and it felt much tighter. I will take it out to the range this weekend to check to see if it works. I will be happy if it does, but at the same time embarrassed that something so simple was overlooked for so long.

I never had this problem when I first got the Tokarev, but I thought it was because at the time I used New factory ammo in it. But since I switched to surplus, that clip comes off a lot and has probably stretched out after being pushed and pulled on so many times.

So for all the other Tokarev owners out there, can you tell me how much tension is on your slide release? Mine feels very nice and firm now, with good tension with a magazine in the pistol. Hopefully it's not too tense and shoots the slide lock into the slide and locks it back while shooting.

Thanks for reading and if anyone could give me input on their Tokarev it would be really appreciated!

EDIT, it was the clip! a new one fixed all the problems!

Hmm, interesting... I was having the same issue with mine the other day. I assumed I was bumping the slide lock under recoil (left handed), and inadvertently locking the slide. I noticed that I was choked high up on the grips (those suckers are small!) to get a firm grip. I lowered my grip and fired the last few mags with out any issue. I'll have to look at my retaining clip as well.

With no magazine in the gun the slide lock should be firmly sprung downward and snap down if you lift it and let it go. And yes, the retainer clip is also the slide lock spring. Go a little easier with it when snapping it back to strip the gun down.

Now with a magazine in it does this BCRider, but when there is no magazine in it, the slide lock just sits there, and if I pull it up or down it stays where I put it. Any ideas on how to fix that? Should I get a new retainer clip?

PROBLEM SOLVED!
