I was hoping to pick up a new 6" SS GP100, but it seems that it's not going to happen anytime soon.

I was in contact with the fine folks at Wanstall's regarding availability. Here's the bad news,:(

Thanks for contacting us!

Unfortunately, Ruger is approximately 1.5 million firearms (and counting) behind production schedule due to overwhelming demand. They are running three shifts and still cannot keep up! This, of course, means that currently the GP100 is not available at any of the Ruger distributors in Canada. I am not sure any dealers still have them in stock, either!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you on this or anything else.

Yep. I want to take a serious look at their SR-45 but I don't think I will be seeing one this side of the border any time soon. I bought a 10/22 last week from a supplier who has sold 29 of them in two days! Ruger stuff is drying up.

The sad part of the story is that I used to own a 686 until three years ago, and like the monumental idiot that I am, I sold it. I don't really feel like dropping $1000 to replace it.

I always liked the GP100, robust and built like a tank
Maybe it's a sign to get a 686. I flip flopped between the GP100 and 686 for a good month before I picked the 686. Haven't looked back.

I received this update from the Ruger sales team

This is in reply to your email to us regarding the GP 100 revolvers.

We have been shipping these revolvers, but we have not come close to filling our distributors requirements, either in the USA or internationally, and some configurations are harder to get than others. In addition, we sell our goods through a two step process to wholesale distributors, and our distributors sell to retailers like yours. Because of this, we have no control over the order in which retailers receive their firearms.

Without knowing from whom your retailer has ordered we cannot even begin to speculate about deliveries. However, we suspect this is simply an issue of demand drastically exceeding supply. Please be patient; we are shipping as quickly as we build them.

The gun gods are punishing you for selling the 686 lol. The shortage of supply of the ruger was also another reason I got the 686. Like to get a GP100 as well some day. Have you tried contacting grouse river outfitters in BC? They list them on their site, doesn't say out of stock or anything, might be a long shot but ya never know.

they had a new one at Calgary Shooting Centre a few weeks ago... probably gone but might be worth a call just in case

good luck!

Put up a WTB ad on the EE. I couldn't find any in stock and I put up an ad on the EE last year and within a day or two I had paid for a GP100 4.2" stainless with around a box through it for a great deal! Out of several handguns I own, this is definitely my favourite.. Worth the wait!
