Revolver was passed down to me from my father. Trying to find date of manufacture, any ideas. Supposedly used in the Riel rebellion.

Can you post pictures of it so we can see what it looks like?

I think patent dates are from the early to late 70's, I'm guessing they were manufactured until the late 80's. The evolution of revolvers was happening fairly quick at that time, these may have been sold under Merwin, Hulbert & Co. during that period. The Blue Jacket No.1 was in their catalog in 1887.
