Hoppe's for degreasing?

I picked up one of those C96 Gunblue Sticks for a few touch ups.

Is Hoppe's #9 a suitable degreaser for prepping for this kind of work?
I kind of suspect there is a bit of oil in Hoppe's.

If not, what do you folks use?
Rubbing alcohol?
Vodka?

Alcohol will work(rubbing, not the drinking type)....Hoppes will not.....electrical contact cleaner also works well....

Degreasing

Rubbing Alcohol contains a small amount of oil, I got a bottle of pure Isopropyl Alcohol at the drug store, just had to ask the druggist for it. Sure wish I could find carbontetracloride.

That stuff is lethal! I'ld stay as far away from it as possible......

It does not affect blueing but it will damage wood finish.

Various chlorinated solvents are also excellent degreasers, (carbon tetrachloride is one but no longer commercially available).

You can find them in things like brake cleaners.

I use spray brake cleaner for final degreasing of parts. Mineral spirits for removing cosmo.

Wal-Mart sells pure acetone in the nail care section. I find it works very well.
