Hornaday SST's

Hornady SST is very accurate in most my guns BUT I think that recommending it as meat harvesting bullet is not responsible.

We and our children consuming so much contaminants in food that our poisoned body's became more susceptible to cancers of every sort.
So adding another poison namely lead from contaminated venison defeats the purpose of harvesting healthy contaminant free food.

Monolithic bullets Barnes TSX, TTSX, LRX, Hornady GMX, Nosler E-Tip are very accurate as they are of very simple construction. There is no jacket that might be slightly thicker on one side creating instability in flight...
Price wise they not as expensive you can have Hornady Superformance GMX in 30-06 for 40 $ for 20.
How many hunting bullets do you need for hunting season, some guys here claim that they never miss, so not many.

I am using Hornady SST in all my rifles as target, plinking bullet
then switching to monoliths for hunting.

Used a 117g in my .25-06 a few years ago and it messed up the whole front end. The buck was about 175 yards, and the bullet went through both shoulders and ended up under the hide, I think it was about 60g. My brother in law now has the rifle and uses those bullets on coyotes, he dosen't care about the hides, just wants them dead.

Snowshoe has it right---my 25-06 mule deer doe same bullet 308 lasered yds-- blew the front shoulder off----tryed one more deer at about 175----same discussing result.----too soft---accurate but I will not use them again. Bent Barrel

Pretty explosve so if you want to get any kind of penetration go with a higher sectional density bullet.

I use the 162g SST in a 7rem mag at about 2950fps. It may have a bit of a harder core than some of the other light weight SST but I am not sure. I have shot a few deer and an elk with it and it has done the job.

I used them once on a moose from my 300rum, at around 50 yards. Never found the bullet went right through with not a huge exit wound. But after I had a little more info I wouldnt try again, I try to stick with the barns tsx.

Best left for the range - agree with other members comments too fragile and explosive. Not sure of Hornady's rationale when they put this on the market. Only thing I like is the polymer tip - doesn't get beat up like a traditional lead tip.

It seems to be popular to use match bullets on game. Look at how many recommend Berger as a hunting bullet.
