The methods previously used only gave them the average BC over the entire flight. It included the effect of the bullet tip decaying, but they had no way of seeing that was happening. The Doppler radar allowed them to see that the BC was decaying during bullet flight.

The radar they are using is more powerful than LabRadar. It allows them to track the bullet at much longer distances.

The AMAXs will likely be phased out like the old match bullet were when the new BTHP bullets with the AMP jackets were introduced.
