Hornady Changes Everything - October 27th 2015

So the previous plastic tip was supposed to increase BC, but it melted away and actually made the BC worse. In the land of the US, bring on the false advertising lawsuits....Now they are just going to deliver what they thought they were delivering all along.

I wonder if this new plastic formula is going to make it into the V-max line and we'll see some better long range performance out of the .204-6mm screamers.

I like that hornady and others are pushing projectile technology ahead. More options the better, I know I'm interested in a high BC sst!

Watched the video finally. I think they are probably overplaying the melting to get more merit for the new tip. That being said I still will use them. I would love to get my hands on the 200gr hunting and the 208gr match.

When will they get to Canada??

Good stuff. I love the 7mm 162 Amax and will definitely try these. Curious if I'll see a difference between the old and new at extended range.

If you guys want to off-load (at a discount) a few boxes of crappy/defective Amax 168gr......I'm all ears to your offers. :p

no, different bullet design, the video shows that quite clearly if you compare it to the inside view of an Amax
I think I see what you are trying to get at. When you said they should offer this in 50 bmg you meant a eld-x hunting bullet in 50 bmg, where I took it to mean a non melting tip for the 50 bmg, which they already had in the aluminum tip.

I keep forgetting they are making the hunting specific bullet, I am only interested in a better bc bullet. Amax is good enough fur hunting in my books.

The ELD X is designed to be a hunting bullet, the Amax not so much

But there's also a new ELD Match bullet line. Wonder if they're just AMAX pills with the new plastic tip.

I got accurate groups using Hornady BTHP Match and AMAX. So those flyers I got were from a melting tip rather than my sh!tty skills? Yay!

FF to 2:34 mark. The first bit is the same as the other vids.

Personally, I'm glad they went with a more cost effective core, rather than an expensive bonded core.

At the end of the day, if a bullet just plain costs too much, then I won't shoot it anyways.

And anyway, the last time I lost an animal to a cup-and-core bullet failure was......never.

The new bullets also use the new AMP jacket.

The 7mm 162 gr. BC didn't increase much, but the 30 cal 208 gr. BC increased quite a bit. I suspect there was more than just a tip and jacket change on some of them.
