Hornady 30-30 brass

i was going to reload my lever revolution brass and found that large rifle primers do not fit. the pocket is smaller than the pockets on my federal brass. what gives??

Is that brass meant to be reloaded? I understand that the revelelution brass in 45-70 is so short that a standard seating die won't crimp it.

From Hornady's Load data for FTX bullets:

Loading FTX™ bullets requires some specialized techniques in certain
cases. To achieve a high ballistic coefficient we had to lengthen the
ogive, or nose, of the bullet. Sometimes this requires that the cartridge
case to be trimmed shorter than the suggested .010" under SAAMI Max
length that we recommend for conventional bullets. Follow prescribed
trim lengths exactly as presented in the FTX™ data for optimum results.

So looks like you should only load FTX bullets in Leverevolution brass.

Not all Leverevolution brass is shorter than standard. The 45-70 cases are about 0.055" shorter than standard, but the 30-30 brass is standard length according to the data on the Hornady website. They also specify a large rifle primer, specifically Fed 210.

large rifle primers don't fit. i tried. after that, that same primer was too small to fit my federal bras so i had to discard that one.
