Hi guys, there was a discussion earlier in the summer about Hornady releasing the 6mm ARC, have you heard of anyone up here bringing in barrels or reamers?

Very interested and I would like to start a build for coyote season

Looks like one heck of a round to put into an MRA Renegade set. Have not seen any threads on that build yet but it would work awesome for hunting and for punching holes in paper out to 1000 yards. Would be awesome to see/hear some others opinions on it

I thought it looked like a good round for the ~2.25" length limit it was designed for. There aren't a lot of options for rifles to use it with now that they've banned a bunch of stuff though. That might make it scarce in Canada.

I've been "researching" this cartridge - which means watching YouTube videos. Some guys are convinced that this will be the next hot PRS cartridge. Their logic is that you're pushing an efficient projectile (same performance as 6.5CM or a 6CM) with less recoil.

Myself, I'm thinking this might be a nice chambering for an MRA Renegade IF it can gain traction here.

I see what you mean but I’m not sure I agree totally. Yes these bans have hit the industry hard for the semi auto world but with AR’s being restricted before this I don’t think there would have been a huge demand for it pte ban either. But with these NR options that use most/a lot of the same parts as ar’s I think it could have a real chance. Now if we see pre made barrels on this side of the boarder in any abundance is a different topic but hopefully it gets some traction here. It was adopted by a un named section of the US military so that usually helps new rounds get a footing

I see your point too. I'm thinking that the NR straight pull or non-AR semi rifles aren't around in great numbers because they're new, and many people will want to stick with 223 to use the mags and stockpiles of ammo they already have. I know the NR's are popular on CGN, but I only know a single person that has one and I haven't seen one in a store. The number of people I know personally with AR15's or so called variants is probably double digits, but even those are almost all 223/5.56. IIRC, there was only 100,000 registered AR-15's in the country a couple years ago according to a freedom of information request I saw online and those have been around forever.

I hope I'm wrong and everyone wants to build a 6mm ARC though. You could try IBI for a custom barrel, they have stuff not listed on the website. Otherwise I'm sure you could order one from McGowan or other US companies but it would undoubtedly take longer. It would give you time to track down a 6.5 Grendal bolt and magazines though.
