Hornady 7.62x39 SST & V-Max , the difference?

Ok I ordered myself some of the V-max for target shooting, I took the box to the local dealer here to see if they could get some in. So I went in to pick up my order today and it turns out they ones they got in are 7.62x39 SST, I compared the two and the only difference I can see is the cannelure is a little bigger and the bottom edges are slightly more rounded off on the SST. Both are .310 123gr bullets though. My hornady 7th edition book doesnt have data for the SST, only V-Max, FMJ and SP...all of which use the same load data of course...so do I just use that data to load the SST bullets then?
Can anyone tell me what the actual difference is between the SST and V-Max?
From what I am reading on the box, the SST sound like they are for penetration and the V-max expand faster?
 
Definitely use the same load data.
I load these V-max for my VZ58 and SKS and they are quite deadly.
I rock H4198 around 26.0gr I believe.
The SSTs would be a better choice for hunting, although I would shoot small deer with the V-maxes
Looking forward to getting some of the SSTs for Deer and Bears. Best of all they are so similar I'd expect no difference in accurate loads and POI shifts.

I noticed in my book that the H4198 seems give the best results, I have only been using IMR 4198 currently, next time I am in town I plan to grab some H4198...I was thinking about grabbing some today when I went to pick up the bullets but it slipped my mind.
That gel test looks pretty good..
