Hornady 7mm Rem Mag data needed.

Hello fellow CGN'ers.

If anyone could send me the following info I'd be grateful.

I just need the starting load and max load from the Hornady manual for the following combination. I'd buy the manual, but I'm three hours from the nearest gun store and I'd like to do some loading this weekend.

Bullet: Hornady 162gr Interlock BTSP
Cal: 7mm Rem Mag
Powder: Reloader 22

I'll be using CCI 250 primers with cases trimmed to 2.490.

Hi. Load for the bullet weight. Who made it doesn't matter.
There's 162 grain RL-22 load data on Reloader's Nest. Reduce by 10% and work up.

Data for a 160 will be fine too. Two grains of bullet weight won't make any difference.

Working up a load using data from a different bullet is fine, but different bullets create different pressures, so just using bullet weight is not a perfect solution. What is a max load using some bullets that create less pressure, may make your load unsafe with other bullets that create more pressure.

I too, load for bullet weight, not caring who made the bullet. The older loading charts made no differential for different types, or brands, of bullets. The loading tables of the day simply stated a bullet weight, then gave all the various powder charges for it.
Norma gave the model number of their bullet and a load for it. For example, if they had three 180 grain bullets for the 30-06, they gave the load for each. However, in every case, the exact same amount of powder was used for each bullet type.
The argument I hear about treating bullets differently, is that pure copper bullets create more pressure. I have never used pure copper bullets, so don't know. However, after WW2 Fred Barnes restarted his bullet making business. His new premium bullet was made from small copper pipe, the same as you buy in the hardware store. The bullets were swagged to a point, with a bit of lead exposed. The hard lead alloy was bonded to the heavy copper jacket. My brother bought a batch of these bullets in 30 calibre in both 150 and 200 grain.
The 200 grain were loaded with a stiff load of 4350, for the 30-06. The same load was used as would be loaded for any 200 grain bullet. We shot them in three different rifles, that I can think of, off hand. I think those bullets would have created as much pressure, as would pure copper bullets. But they gave no problems in any of the rifles we used them in.
There is another aspect to this whole thing. Parker Ackley reminds us that with rifles and slow powders, peak pressure is reached after the bullet has travelled a few inches down the bore. The lands are impressed into the bullet while pressure is still low. By the time peak pressure is reached, the bullet fits the barrel perfectly and just blows out with normal pressure.
This rant is not meant to tell, or advise, anyone on how to reload. Just do your thing the way you want todo it, in a safe manner, going by what your loading book states you should do.
 
It's interesting that there's quite a difference in the load data from different sources.

My Speer manual gives a start load of 61.0gr and a max of 65.0gr with RL 22 for a 160 grain bullet...but according to Piping here, the Hornady manual says 52.4 to 62.9gr of RL-22. That seems like a big spread to me...thoughts?
