Hornady 9.3 bullet explosion again.........................

Can't remember the exact load but I had loaded all my test ammo to duplicate 100 yard impact from a .375 H&H or 110 yard from a .375 Ruger:stirthepot2:. Probably around 2500 fps.

In a number of calibres, I've been changing over to choices like the Barnes but I do have a good selection of the more traditional available for the two 375 cals I have. The last acquired are the 300gr and 270gr put out by Marshal of Matrix bullets.

Same here, I hunt almost exclusively with TTSX's but do have about 400 Hornady 270gr IL that I picked up from the EE a couple years ago for practice.

here is the results of a test done for hornady in - Test media: milk jugs....lots of water also!!
- Disclaimer: I know milk jug and water do not give identical result to flesh and bones, blah, blah, blah.... (stolen and adapted from BCsteve)

286gr hornady. found in the 4th jug lost most of it what you heard is what we found so far ... very good for practising and that is it. 53.6grains found nothing from the front part at all .

286gr remington Factory ammo 3th jugs found a really little part 3.2 grains . same bullet as hornady.

will you use for hunting? i know the answer for me at least ...

What is the jacket difference /thickness between the .375-235gr Speer and the 270gr -9.3 Speer is anyone can sacrifice one of each? Harold

As I mentioned, from Matrix I picked up;
- Matrix 270gr Bonded
- Matrix 300gr FBRN Bonded.
The following, I've picked up in odd quantities at gun shows, ;) just to 'play with' plus the price was right :p ;
- Speer 270gr SPBT
- Sierra 250gr SBT
- Nosler 300gr
- Hornady 300gr RN
- Hornady 300gr BTSP

ive done a ton of testing with water jugs. ive recovered some bullets from game. done at the same distance so the velocity is the same the end result in weight retention and what the bullet looks like is shockingly similar. I have no problem with a water jug test.

Just heard back from Todd @ Hornady .......the bullets in question are from 2006 Lot # 2060682 made in 2006.........the best they could come up with are 2010 vintage and fired into gelatin OD .740 /217gr/76% retention and .690/230gr/80% retention. Will see if i can ship them some of my pulled bullets.Homeland security and all...he has graciously offered to replace the two boxes of bad bullets.....Harold

do not see how 58 gr is the problem ... Norma recommend that load with different bullets and the 203b ....

as Nosler

i have to send him some bullets from different lots but with the anemic load i used and imr 4064 i had the same issue as you ...

Hopefully Homeland Security doesn't seize them and thwart my plans for world domination............Harold

I have sectioned a good number of Hornady bullets. There IS a difference between those made some time ago and more recent offerings.
I had a new style Hornady 140 grain 270 bullet completely disintegrate on a rib of a whitetail deer about 5 years ago. Enough said!!
I hunt primarily with Partitions, Accubonds, A-Frames and Sciroccos. Dave.

I received a gift from Korth /Hornady today ......4 boxes of Hornady bullets for the 9.3 ....... Two 286gr SP RP and two boxes of 250gr GMX..........I was cautioned by the ballistics specialist that they would replace the product for me but this would not apply to everyone.I do not speak for Hornady but am impressed with how they handled this........still waiting to see if the bullets get back to them past Homeland Security for in lab testing....will let everyone know when/if I know....Harold

Harold seems they cut the line after you lol ... i didnt get any answer after you received gift ... they asked me the lot numbers but after that no more news ... do no think your sp rp will be different than the ones you had ...

Maybe not but they were free.......so I guess paper for them and game with the GMX's if the group 1/2 decent. Like I said .....what they did for me they may not do for all...........Harold

i have been notified as of today ,the samples from the lot in question have made it back to the Hornady lab for testing ...........awaiting the results.Harold
