Hey Guys;

I recently purchased ammunition from an estate. Upon inspecting the Hornady cartridges, I discovered a unique headstamp on them, that being "Frontier"...

So I went looking & it turns out that the 22-250 Hornady Varmint Express ammo I purchased is from 1984 or older because it was that year Hornady Bullets, Frontier Ammunition & Pacific Reloading Tools merged. And the ammo was $20.79 a box back then!

Cool 'eh?

Cheers
Jay

I guess they carried on using "Frontier" for a while?

They sure did. I have Hornady ammo that I bought about a decade ago (2006) that has the Frontier marked brass, it was .308 Win match I bought for my first Rem 700. I would doubt that your ammo is from the 1980's with that price on them, but good sleuthing on the merge date nonetheless.

Yup, 9 years ago I was still getting .270 SST 130 gr with the Frontier headstamp at WSS here in Winnipeg. I switched to reloading around the same time - it didn't turn out to be the longest lasting brass, that's for sure. But the factory loads worked well enough!
