I have a Hornady case tumbler and I think the motor is gone. It hums and when I shake it the spindle holding the weight attempts to turn but thats it. I just wondered if anyone had repaired one and where I could get a motor.

Its a shame, this thing is only a couple of years old and has not seen more than 3 to 4 thousand cases tops. And it has never been loaded to capacity. :(

More likely than not it is under warranty. Check with Hornaday through their website email or call them.

Hornady does have great customer service, I had to use it so I know first hand. I have the Hornady case tumbler and I load the #### out of it, probably seen 2000 cases by now. Hope it doesn't fail soon.

Most reloading equipment company seem to have good waranties, I wouldn't be surprised if they help you out.

If it hums it most likely will be siezed bearings.
Depending on quality of motor, it will be either a sealed roller bearing,
or a brass bushing.
No hum = burnt/broken winding wire.
My Dillon had a lifetime warrenty,
as long as i would have sent it pre-paid back to Arizona.
I took motor apart , removed the bearings and got replacements from bearing shop.
Mine wasnt seized, they just growled so loud i had to run it outside.
Nice and quiet now.

Thanks guys.
I actually just came in from the garage after getting it running and saw your replys. I have had problems with this tumbler before. I first called Hornady when it was a few months old and while I was talking to customer service I turned it upside down and it started working again so I left it at that. I've had to shake it to get it running a few times since and always in winter. I called them again this time and was not offered a repair or anything but at 2 + years old I don't expect much.

Anyway tonight I sprayed liquid wrench into the bar that holds the weight and it started working better than it ever had. I then sprayed silicon grease into the same area and tumbled for an hour or so. I do not expect this fix to last for ever but I believe LeadSlinger may have it right about bearings. It probably had tight bearings from day one.

Cool. And thanks again!:)

My 8 year old Dillon tumbler was ruined in a basement flood, when I called about repair Dillon said send it back they would send a new one! They did.
Best warranty in the business.

Thanks guys.

That kind of tells me its a sleeve brass bushing bearing.
Most likely the shaft running through it is not stainless steel,
so getting very minor corrosion just enough moisture to swell the shaft making it tight in the bushing or dust and dirt .
Most bathroom fans are like this.
Is it opperated or get stored in a damp area?
A quick spray before each use should make it last for quite awhile.
