At 4:50 this afternoon I dropped another small whitetail (tiny 8 point) at 140 yards with the ol 270 loaded up with Hornady's Custom ammo with a 130 grain SST. The bullet hit exactly where intended behind the right shoulder and wiped out both lungs and for some reason spliit the liver in half. It did not exit the far side even though I have yet to see a broken bone, this was a nice broadside shot BTW. Once I skin the deer tomorrow morning I will look for the bullet, or whatever is left of it.

I am very very suprised that the bullet did not exit! This is thee first time I have used an SST, and had not planned on it for my reloads... I am curious as to what happened!

I used to use the SST and found them too frangible at close range/higher velocity.

The last time I pulled the trigger with an SST was on a WT doe that was a perfectly placed lung shot, the down side was that I lost good portions of both back loins due to fragmentation.

I have since switched to Swift Sciroccos for my do all game bullet.

I have not used the Swift bullets either, no experience with them at all, do not know anyone that that uses them. I have heard great things via the net regarding the Sciroccos, but trusting the internet forums is a lot like trusting the government....

I am using Accubonds for the 270 and the 325, the 325 also uses Barnes TSX 200 grain. I have about 30 of these factory loaded Hornady Custom SST's left.... now what do I do with them? lol Maybe I will just pull them and use the brass....
