Hornady Dies- Experiences and comments

Third set

I am currently looking to replace my Hornaday 9mm sizing die. The die swages the brass down to the bass and leaves a ring around the base. It turns these cases into Fire & Forget cases.
Will replace with a Lee carbide this year...

No problem with their equiptment, some of their dies are quite ingenuative like their Universal Neck Sizers that can handle more than one caliber in each respective bore size their eliptical expanders also work smoother than most.

I have 3 sets (.45-70,.32 Win Spl and 7.62x39) and in my opinion they are great, no broken decap pins or bent stems and the accuracy has been excellent with the finished product. Any new die sets I buy will be Hornady.

I have three sets of their dies, and two have had to go back to the factory. One was a straight-wall pistol round that had an oversized resizing ring, so some cases would not hold the bullet tightly. The other was a short bottle-neck rifle round with the seating die built using a long die body! The case mouth couldn't even touch the crimping ring, it was so high up in the die.

I remember looking at their ads and thinking the dies looked like the cat's pajamas, but the more I experiment with reloading the more I think I might go to all RCBS dies.
