I have reloaded for more than 40 years now and haven't seen anything close to this til now.
My Browning ABolt delivers less than 1 MOA with cheapie Winchester sp 180 gr. spitzer bullets with 55 gr of IMR 4350.
I bot a box of the above which costs nearly 4x as much and (ready for it?) I got a 5 MOA. Yes, 5 with the exact same charge.
Started checking my scope mounts and was worried about a flinch. I have also had scopes just let go inside.
I fired 3 more of the cheapies again and they were all touching.
I am waiting for a reply from Hornady.
What do you think of that?
 
So your rifle likes one bullet better. The other bullets may like to go faster, or with a different powder. Higher price does not guarantee they'll shoot in your rifle.

4x the price of Winchester bullets? I only pay $30/100 for my Interlocks.

Think about it, back in the day, those "cheapie" bullets were considered premium.

I have a picture somewhere of a chart showing fired bullets in .30-06 from various makers. Amazing enough, the old soft-point bullets hold their own against modern premium bullets, when it comes to expansion and retained mass.

I really don't see the point in paying significantly more for a premium bullet, when an old tried and true bullet will perform the same task.
 
Hornady bullets have always shot well in any cartridge I have loaded for. Each rifle is different and maybe yours will like Speer ;)
 
Strangely, my experience with "premium" bullets has been dismal in the accuracy department across the board. Just about every rifle I own shoots the old "cheapo" bullets amazingly, and their effectiveness on big game has always been more than enough. Mind you, I have slowly gotten rid of all my Uber-magnums over the years, so maybe that's why my underpowered rifles do better with the non-premium bullets.

How much are you paying for interlocks ?

Dont expect any appologies from Hornady as this kind of thing happens all the time albeit not as often with Interlocks which is far from an Expensive bullet as far as im concerned.
 
Did you maybe get them confused with the Interbond bullets? IBs are about 2X the cost of the Interlocks, at least in the WSS catalogue. The only bullet I've found that my rifle likes better than Hornady is the Nosler Ballistic (green) tip... which I will NEVER use for hunting again after what happened to the last deer I shot with one... what a mess!
 
I have to agree with Pathfinder and NorthernCX.
I have used many boxes of Hornady Interlock bullets and I have always found them to provide good hunting accuracy in a variety of rifles and calibres - 1.5 inches or less for 5 shot groups at 100 m.
I never considered them premium bullets, just very good standard cup and core bullets with an additional feature. I still don't think they are considered premium bullets, even though they provide good accuracy and good results on game.
I suspect, also, that you might be talking about the Interbond series, of which I have no experience but I do know that they are significantly more expensive.
Unless Hornady is aware of a bad lot, I suspect that there is little that they can say or do as these sorts of variations in accuracy can happen.
 
I've had an issue with RN vs FN accuracy using hornady bullets. The FN I can get under an inch, the RN group 2+ inches no matter what the charge or powder. No idea why. Try a different bullet style in the interlock.
 
When the Canadian Rifle Team goes to Bisley (my experience is from the 70s, 80s and 90s - last trip was in 2000) the 20 shooters each take 2, maybe 3 rifles.

The NRA supplies the ammo and each team member tries the ammo in his rifles and sees which one shoots the best with that year's ammo. Sometimes none of his rifles will work, and he borrows one from someone else who had better luck.

These are all top notch rifles that have been tuned up for the event. It never ceased to amaze me how different the results could be. I got lucky one year when one of my rifles could not miss.

Same ammo - 40 to 60 different results.

Think positive. You have found a bullet that does not work in your rifle. you never have to shoot it again. Try something else - or buy several boxes of what you already know is good. Preferably with the same lot #.
