Hornady Interlock?

you mean you wet the books and THEN took them to the range?
I thought about the same thing, but rather take the water separately and mix the two on site.... less mess, less frozen phone books.

Hijacking this a little bit: anyone tried other materials to compare bullets?
I was considering jello, but this time, like savagefan would do, rely on the cold...
The ballistic gellatin is waaay to expensive. 100$ plus for no very much...

Frozen jello will exlode/shatter. You actualy pay less for plain knoxx gelitain than gelitain from jello packs. I Did fool around with balistic gelitain for some hp handgun rounds, and I found gelitain overexpanded rounds, or opened them up more than real flesh did. I did find that plain water was more an indicator off what the final shape of the bullet would look like, but harder to do penatration tests. Of coarse rifle rounds may act differently in differnt media.

Also, I did stuff milk cartons full of shredded newspaper, and then filled with water, this also worked well enough, but was messy and time consuming. And modeling clay, it would make a round nose 22lr mushroom even... wich it does not in gelitan, or real flesh/water, it probably wouldn't take to much to stop most rifle rounds.
