I will say that mine is awesome...for the first five or six loads. After that EVERY one is an "Over Charge", sometimes by as much as 1.5-2 grains. I am on the phone waiting for their customer service department right now as we speak. Stupid thing is I just recommended to a good friend that he go buy one as well because it works so good. Guess I will call him back and tell him to hold off.
Right now I am in position number 9 in the que. I will let you know the outcome of this...
I am using all extruded powder, H4831SC, H4350, IMR 4064, Varget...etc. After 52 mins on hold, I got a very polite and helpful service rep. He is sending me an email with some new user settings to input in the machine. He said the unit is set from factory more for ball powder but if I run with extruded mainly there is some settings that need to be changed. I am waiting for the email and after I input them and test I will let you know for sure.
I do really like this unit, easy to use and fairly fast too, and this is only the second time I have had to use the Hornady customer service line and I will say they are top notch. Hopefully this email will fix my problem and I get back to reloading!
I have one. Be sure to position it somewhere that is free of vibration, excessive airflow, possibly not under fluorescent lighting. I find mine works well, but sometimes overcharges. I'm thinking its dependent on some location in the house, as I've had long sessions of it working well with varget and H4831SC, and IMR4895, but other times where its been overcharging many in a row. When it works properly, you can run it on the highest speed setting and it work perfectly. When you are running into problems (vibration? electronic interfences?), it doesn't matter what setting I used. Overall I would buy it again. It's a real time saver.
Just don't leave the little valve open when you pour in your powder. If you're on vinyl flooring, if you're lucky, you will hear the sound of powder grains hitting the floor.
or buy an RCBS chargemaster and not have those problems
Can you buy locally from a store that will allow you to return it if it doesn't work to your satisfaction?
I let mine warm up for at least 30 mins, I no longer seat bullets while dispensing powder, no flourescent lights. I think the next biggest hurdle for me is my reloading bench. I will tackle that during the Christmas holidays.
I'm a Hornady fan myself.
I have the LnL AP Ammo Plant and I'm very satisfied however I also went with the RCBS Chargemaster Combo due to more favorable reviews.
The RCBS can be found online for $290.00 and with an additional $10.00 purchase in RCBS products you are eligible for $50-$75 in cash rebates.
I'm sure that Hornady will get you sorted out though.
PS: RCBS also has program settings that can be modified. The settings can be found HERE.
