Hornady L-N-L Auto Progressive VS Dillon 650

Now I've been reading alot about both and they seem to be very similar in technical terms and in operating procedures, but the hornady one seems to be somewhat cheaper. I was wondering if anyone had experience with maybe both to give pros and cons of each (well probably more focused on the Hornady one since I already know that the Dillon is top-of-the-line). Also, I didn't find any mention wether the Hornady L-N-L is auto-indexing or not.

Also, I'd like to know what kind of warranty and customer service Hornady offers, as the Lifetime no B-S Dillon warranty is a very convincing argument.

In short, is it worth to shell out the extra money for a Dillon rather than getting the Hornady one?
 
Dillon customer service is second to none. I've never had to pay for any part that I broke/lost/damaged. Its in the mail before your off the phone with them. Its very good to know that the company stands by its products. It may be a bit more on the initial purchase, but its troublefree design is well thought out.

I load on a Dillon 550, I have no experience on the presses you have mentioned, but I am truely happy I went with the Dillon, even though it hurt a bit more (was on a students budget......). My best bit of reloading advice always recommends Dillon over anything else. The others do the job just fine, but I prefer Dillon equipment on my bench. :lol:
 
I bought a used Hornady Projector press (the forerunner to the lock-and-load)

The powder measure got damaged in-transit, so I called Hornady in the States to order a replacement part (the powder hopper) - They said they would sent it to me at no charge. It's since been received as promised :D
 
the L-n-L is a great press and setup with the caser feeder will go faster than the Dillon. Hornady's customer service is just as good as Dillon's, or RCBS's. They are all great. As well their powder measure is easier to adjust than the Dillon. You will not be disapointed in the L-n-L press.
 
I've been looking at the Lock-N-Load AP as well.

What else do you need to make a complete setup. Dies, shellplate and bushings? Anything else I'd need (or will want pretty soon)?
 
I also have the Hornady Projector and find it better than the dillon because it is a true progressive press, the Dillon is not! Service from Hornady has been excellent when I called them for my worn out pawls, they sent them to me for free no questions asked, by the way the Hornady also carries a lifetime warranty.

Could you please explain? I am trying to figure in which way a Dillon 650 isn't a true progressive?

Sorry, I was thinking of the 550, the 650 is progressive :oops:
