Hornady l n l Power Case Prep Center not holding shell holder

Hi, I have had a Hornady lock n load Power Case Prep Center for a wile now, like it and makes quick work of trimming and de-burring the 223, 303 and 3006, my only issue since day one was the way the shell holder is retained, manual says it should snap in place, there is a spring clip from the side to achieve this however on my unit it does hold it somewhat but with little movement it actually helps eject the shell holder, even YouTube video shows it snapping into place.

I tried making the bend on the end of the spring more like 90 degrees it improved but not great.

would like to get feedback from other users of this machine, do you notice the same thing with the retention of the shell holder? one think I considered is counter bore the plunger the size of the clamp screw maybe 1/16 inch and the screw would retain the assembly in place but would like to know if mine is a oddity first.

Hornady is awesome to deal with. Give them a call and they will be more than happy to help. If there is actually an issue with you machine they will send you parts under warranty. They were super helpful when I was setting up my AP press and dies.

Tried to use the Prep Center and found out that the Case plunger does not fit into my Lee Shell holder #17 for the 8mm Lebel cases.

Was trying to figure what I could do to get it going then remember how hard the shell holders are. Don't want to grind another one, will take forever.

Just got off the Phone with Hornady. All of their Case prep tools can only be used with Hornady shell holders, which have a larger primer diameter hole than everyone else's shell holder so that the plunger contacts outside the primer pocket to prevent case free spinning.

They took an order from me over the phone for what I needed. Hornady Shell holder # 49, SKU 390605.

Lee Shell holder primer hole too narrow for Hornady plunger to enter primer hole. Both should enter into chuck.

My unit came from Sinclairs well before they were available in canada and even Hornady shell holders never :" Snapped in" on my unit

being fortunate to have access to EDM I can enlarge the holes in any shell holder, never got the shell holder to stay in the clamp head, does not snap in, I made a new plunger, the part that goes thro the shell holder and recessed the back half mm, now the assembly is retained by the clamp and not the funny wire clip
