I was planning on buying this stuff for my 336 Marlin, 35 REM but my rifle has a 20 inch barrel. All the ballistics that Hornady puts out is for a 24 inch barrel. They claim it will kill a deer at 200 yds. Would it do the same in my 20 inch barrel???

Yes, it will work if you practice shooting at that range. You will not notice a practical difference in the field between a 20 & 24 bbl.

yes, if you can hit when you're aiming at. I would expect no more than a 50-75 fps drop in the 4" of barrel length

There are times when the only ammo you can find in this calibre is Hornady.

Yes they work. I have had a few pass through without expansion. But the deer died after a short run.

Keep your brass, it’s hard to find and you or someone else will need it one day. Trust me!

I don't expect that a properly loaded .35 wouldn't kill deer at 200 with a round nose or flat nose bullet.

Wouldn't buy out the store on that stuff, unless it's a good deal. I buy factory for the .35 only because I couldn't find brass. And if you reload, you might want to check the length of that stuff. For 45-70, the brass was short enough to be a pain.

Hand loading is the way to go, especially for the.35. It is loaded very low pressure in deference to the old Remington model 8 semi auto. Can easily be brought up to 30-30 pressure and beat factory loads by a couple hundred fps.

Could use gas checked cast, and some guys have had success with .357 pistol bullets.

LeverRevolution powder gives very good velocity and accuracy with the Hornady round nose bullet in my old waffle top Marlin.I tried the load on the powder label and got a 3 shot 1.5" group (iron sights of course) at 100yds and got the advertised velocity.

It performs well. Seems you run out of room with it before you'd hit any kind of pressure. Which isn't terrible either.

Out of my gun, Remington 200 which are advertised at 2080, aren't quite at 2000 over my chronograph.

I think I'm a grain over the max and still quite low pressure and getting about 2250(?) with the Hornady. And same charge is giving me about 2330 with the 180 gr Speer.

Supposed to be compressed loads, but still a little room.

Have found a couple other loads a bit quicker yet. Or maybe about the same with a heavier bullet.
