I've been running my LnL for over a year now. The press has certain 'weaknesses' but I learned to live with them.

Yesterday, I helped a friend set up his LnL, and was surprised to see it act differently from mine:

1. His shell plate seems to ride higher than mine, giving more clearance for the brass. Some of my brass doesn't even go in because of a narrower gap between shellplate & base.

2. I had a constant problem with proud primers - Winchesters being worse than CCI - and ended up taping a small washer under the priming pin. His press doesn't have this issue. We loaded about 100 rounds with Winchester primers, and haven't had a single proud primer.

3. My press cannot handle NT brass - primers won't go in. My buddy's press primes NT just fine.

BTW, I was too squeamish to NOT use a Lee FCD when I set up my press a year ago. Yesterday we used a Hornady die to both seat & crimp, and all reloads pass the barrel test. He's got a P226 - I'm running my reloads in a Shadow, could it be that the Shadow is more sensitive?

one way to fix it is Give hornady a call , They are great to deal with . Mine has the odd quirk as well ,but I think any press has a qurk

Thanks. I keep forgetting they are the experts. I wouldn't even think of those little quirks, but now when I tried my buddy's press I'm jealous. ;) I'll give them a call.
