Wondering if some one with a Hornady manual can send some info my way. Going to see if I can find a manual in town today but not overly confident. Looking for load info for 44mag, bullets are 300grn HP/XTP and 265 grn flat points(older box, picked up in a trade) going to be using Alliant 2400. I'm looking around a start load of 18grns. COAL of 1.61. Can anyone take a quick peek in their manual and confirm this starting load. Going to be shot out of a lever gun, not a handgun. Thanks guys.

hornady load data

Hi, the hornady book doesn't list 2400 powder data with the 265 gr bullet. For the 300gr. in a rifle its 1.600" coal, starting powder weight for 2400 is 12.2 gr, 1000 fps. max load is 16.1and 1300 fps.

As mentioned, the Hornady book doesn't list 2400 powder data with the 265 gr bullet. However I have been told that Accurate No.9 and 2400 have almost the same burn rate. No.9 being faster. when working up loads near max use 2400, its alot more forgiving than Acc. No.9. 2400 has very good burning characterisctics, you can go as low as 15 gr. Not something you can do with H-110.

so 19.1 gr starting load for 1350FPSs to max load of 20.3 for 1450 FPS with a C.O.L of 1.610"

I have no experience with this load. I am only passing on what I have been told right or wrong, so take it with a grain of salt.
