Hornady Lock-N-Load AP presse info needed

You'll need the powder cop die if you ever load .223. The RCBS "Lockout" die is a priceless piece of kit but only works with straight walled pistol. I'd still get one if your budget allows. Nothing is lost on the "Powder Cop".

Thanks for all the tips guys. I ordered the Hornady powder cop die but I should have brought the RCBS lock-out die instead. Too late for now, I will see how it work out with the cop die. I took note for the extra primers tube and this will be in my next order.

Is the brake cleaner will clean the powder measure as well as the Hornady one shot cleaner ???
Thanks

I'm not sure that brake cleaner doesn't eat the plastic? Don't think I would take a chance!

Love the LNL, great choice.

I like my LNL

I load mainly .40 since it's what I shoot IPSC with but I have set ups for 9 mm, .45 and .223 as well

A couple things while setting it up ... Check out the hornady YouTube channel while setting it up ... There are 12 or so videos and they show step by step how to put it all together. Well done and way better than the instruction book since you can see it in detail.

Before putting on the shell plate, take your dremel and polish the bottom grooves nicely. That will help keep it smooth. I had a few ejection problems first but after polishing no issues.

The powder through expanded works well most of the time, probably 1% fail rate that I've seen where it doesn't expand the case enough to seat the bullet nicely. Could be a function of slightly different lengths on the cases as well. That's acceptable IMO.

The hornady case feeder is a POS. I had to screw with it for hours before i got it to work at an acceptable level. Upside down cases, log jams at the top of the feed tube, cases flying out before dropping into the feed tube, cases not dropping out completely and then jamming the feed plate ... All are issues I had with it ... What I ended doing was putting grip tape on every 2nd slot of the pistol case feed plate. This did 2 things ... Reduced the rate cases drop into the feed tube, which reduced (not eliminated 100% but to a level where I'm ok with it) all of the above problems and it also provided some grip to pull the last 10 or so cases up which would end up just sliding around at the bottom of the hopper.

Bullet feeder: absolutely brilliant piece of equipment. Hornady hit that one out of the park. Every press needs one of these. Easy to set up, easy to use, dies are great and I love it.

Powder cop: use it! Saved my butt a couple times. Lock out die is good too if you have the $$ to spend. I've got both but mainly use the powder cop.

In all, I like my LNL. I think if I was going to buy anything else I would go straight to a Camdex. ;)

What station are you using the Powder Cop die??

I have a 1050 and since I have a bullet feeder on station 6...my only option would be to put a powder cop or check dies on station 7 and then seat and crimp at the last station.

I like the idea of the lock out die (especially since I have the auto drive installed) but I'm not big on seating and crimping at the same station...

Who would have thought 8 stations would not be enough....

Station 1: de-prime, re-size
Station 2: powder drop and expander
Station 3: powder cop (or lock out)
Station 4: bullet feed
Station 5: seat/crimp

I would love 2 more stations LoL

I used Brake Cleaner to clean my LNL press. Did a fine job on the powder tube, didn't eat the plastic. That said, I'd still recomend trying to find some Hornady Dry-Lube. It's designed to work with the press.

Ya the Hornady One Shot dry lube and cleaner works well for this application. I would suggest NOT using it on your guns though .. My experience wasn't positive ...

Electrical contact cleaner to clean and Jigaloo graphite to lube.

I wouldn't put WD40 on a dry turd.

My mistake guys, I actually used Brake Cleaner. I realized the mistake later. I agree, there's no WD40 in my house, nasty stuff.

As for the Jigaloo Graphite. I wasn't impressed. It made an awful mess and stains everything black. I'm trying to remove it all now and I'm going to stick with the One-Shot.
