I finally got around to setting up an actual dedicated reloading bench in the basement. No more reloading on a small desk in my office. Had everything set up and ready to go. Plug in the Hornady Lock N Load Auto Charge and go to Calibrate it and it just starts beeping repeatedly and displaying "SET" on the panel after hitting the CAL button. None of the buttons stop it. The only way to get it to stop is to unplug it and plug it back in but as soon you turn it back on and touch the Cal button it starts doing it again. It's also doing some other weird things where if you turn it on and hit zero it will flash the words "on" "off" "on" "off" repeatedly as well. Or turn it on and hit Dispense and it just flashes "N" "P" "N" "P" repeatedly. It's unfortunately out of warranty as I bought it 6 years ago but only started using it for the first time 2 months ago. Anyone ever dealt with this? Is it fried?

No, no problems with mine. Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with yours. Mine has to be at least that old as well. Sounds like a serious issue with the microprocessor or its memory. Capacitors in electronics are a frequent issue with big screen TV's, computers and computer monitors. That would be challenging to diagnose.

I would try opening it up, and see if there are any cables, plugs or ribbon cables that can be removed an re-seated. I've had that happen to some electronics over the years. A ribbon cable between two components loses contact, maybe corrosion.

Thanks Grizzlypeg, that was what I was thinking might need to happen. Just don't want to go ripping it apart only for someone to chime in that it's a simple thing and there's a way to reset it or something like that. Not sure if it even came with paper instructions, I can find a CD in the box... who has a CD ROM drive anymore?

I still have the manual for mine, it's simply a folded long sheet of paper. Can't remember a CD. Was that a DVD with a video of instructions? Not sure if we both have the same model or not. Mine has 2 test weights, a 10 and a 50 gram. I think the newest model has only one test weight.

Could be caused by interference from other close by electrical appliances such as fluorescent lights(try in another room) but chances are that if an "unplug" reboot doesnt reset it, its a major motherboard problem...replacement or repair probably in same ball park cost-wise...be ready for sticker shock compared to what you paid 6 yrs ago.
